A new life to be abandoned, yet so cheapened ?

A growing living thing, a child-to-be.
Just like you & me before.
Yet, just $5 to take away its rights ?
Its right to take in its first breath independently from this world.

But what other choices do we have ?
Bring up the child when we cun barely afford ourselves ?
Burden our family with the new child ? (My child.)
Getting thrown out of the house because of the shame we had brought ?
Start a new underaged family with the dad ( If he didnt run away, that is. Or, do you even know who issit.) ?
A single mum.

This $5 spent will naturally cancel out all the above.
Yet, this money spent will be,
Painful ? ________ precisely. (I cannot find any seemingly apt word to express how it will feel.)
Ruptured ? Maybe.
Guilt-driven & remembered for the rest of your life.

Then again, after this $5 spent.
Will there be any more such $5 to come ?
Once bitten, twice shy ?
